Okaloosa County, Florida (WKRG) — The American Family Care (AFC) held a ribbon-cut ceremony on October 27 for the organization’s new emergency primary care center in Niceville.
The 3,300-square-foot facility is considered halfway between the emergency room and family medicine.
The average patient spends an estimated 68 minutes from start to finish, eliminating the need for appointments and waiting room time. The facility has everything from laboratory work to digital x-rays.
CEO Dr. Bruce Irwin founded the company after working at the ER in Mobile, Alabama.
Irwin realized the lack of accessibility in the medical system and tried to fill those gaps with new facilities.
“We can do almost all the tests that are usually needed in primary care and emergency care practices,” Irwin said. “We also take pride in a reasonably complex lab that is a step back from the reference lab and is far superior to most clinics.”
AFC has 15 locations in Florida, averaging new centers across the country every eight days.
The new building is right next to Wal-Mart, right next to John Sims Parkway. Staff will begin seeing patients on November 1st and will only close on Christmas Day.
