State-of-the-Art Medical Facility to Serve Patients in Homewood
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – (January 15, 2025) – American Family Care (AFC), the nation’s leading provider of urgent care with nearly 400 walk-in clinics across the United States, announces the opening of its newest healthcare facility in the metro Birmingham area. AFC Homewood will serve patients in a 3,700-square-foot facility at 471 Green Springs Highway in Homewood, Alabama.
The opening of the new clinic occurs as the CDC’s weekly influenza report finds Alabama’s flu and respiratory illness activity remains very high. The report also notes that the number of deaths attributed to influenza and flu-related hospital admissions are both up.

The new AFC Homewood urgent care center is a state-of-the-art medical facility with eight exam rooms, as well as a procedure room, that will serve patients seven days a week. The clinic is open from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday, and from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday and will provide a broad range of services, including walk-in urgent care, vaccinations, digital X-rays, occupational health services, and more. For added convenience, patients can use the AFC’s online “save your spot” feature to reduce their wait time.

AFC Homewood is the 21st clinic in greater Birmingham and 46th location in Alabama. The new urgent care center will hold a grand opening celebration on Wednesday, January 15, from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. AFC Homewood will open its doors to patients on Thursday, January 16, at 8 a.m.
