Sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) can affect anyone and we at AFC Urgent Care believe that there is neither shame nor stigma in getting medical help when you need it the most. We operate a judgement-free walk-in clinic open for patients of all ages and from all walks of life. We have a testing lab on-site which allows us to see patients without any prior appointments and provide results faster than most urgent care centers and physicians’ offices. We also welcome patients who cannot get an early appointment at their primary care physician as well those that do not have a family doctor and are in need of confidential, discreet and affordable STD Testing Services in and around Arlington, Medford, Lexington, Somerville and Cambridge areas.
We also know from experience there is no bad day or time to get tested and the outcomes of testing are often not as bad as people imagine. Testing positive can often lead to the early detection of very easily treatable conditions and testing negative eliminates anxiety and stress caused by worrying about one’s health. This anxiety, in fact, can often be more debilitating than the underlying concern. In every case ignoring your health is certainly never a good option and getting tested/treatment is the right choice to make.
Our clinic operates on a walk-in basis and you can simply come in any time we are open without a prior appointment. You’ll be able to discuss your healthcare concerns confidentially, and without any judgment, with one of our board-certified physicians. STDs can be a difficult topic for our patients to discuss and we have tried to answer as many questions as we can below. If you still have unanswered questions, please do not hesitate to call our Arlington clinic at 781-648-4572. We care about your health and promise to make the call easy in every possible way.
Symptoms can vary from one patient to the other and at times there could be no symptoms at all. Instead of searching online for symptoms and causing additional stress and anxiety, we recommend that you consult one of our qualified physicians to discuss your symptoms (if any). One of our board-certified doctors with many years of experience will recommend the most appropriate tests to make an accurate diagnosis. For patients that do not have a comprehensive insurance plan, we offer this consult at a very affordable price and this ensures that you do not go down the road of unnecessary testing.
Even if you do not have symptoms you can discuss your case in confidence (remember we care about your health and well-being more than anything else) and our physicians, who are trained medical professionals, will recommend the appropriate tests to put your mind at ease.
Yes, your insurance plan will cover STD testing and treatment (if you have an underlying illness or symptoms). We accept most insurance plans offered in Massachusetts (click here for a full list).
For patients that do not have a health insurance plan, our urgent care clinic offers very affordable prices for STD testing and treatment. Urgent care clinics are generally considered to be very affordable health care options for patients that do not have insurance coverage or choose to pay out of pocket. We understand that not everyone is part of a comprehensive health plan and offer STD related physician consults at an extremely affordable price of $90. This consultation ensures that a qualified medical doctor examines you and your symptoms only to recommend the most appropriate testing/treatment needed for your case. This also ensures that you don’t spend more on unnecessary tests and get the right advice from a qualified medical professional.
Our onsite lab can test for the the most common STDs and we have access to additional off-site labs for more advanced testing. We can test for:

That depends on what we’re ultimately testing for. Some tests include swabs of the genitals or mouth, while others require urine or blood tests.
There are many different STDs, so the risks will depend on the disease. Cancer, infertility, transmission to sexual partners, and harm to unborn babies are a few risks of leaving STDs untreated.
