Lyme Disease Testing in Aurora City Center, CO

Ticks are everywhere, and some can carry diseases that can be extremely harmful to humans. The most common disease is Lyme disease. If left untreated, Lyme disease can cause debilitating and chronic symptoms. The medical providers at AFC Aurora City Center can remove any tick that is still in the skin and test for Lyme disease.

AFC Aurora City Center is open seven days a week. Our board-certified providers can test for Lyme disease on weekends, so patients never have to worry about care. Visit our walk-in center today for any urgent care service.

Tick Removal near Watkins, CO

Ticks are pesky insects, and there is a knack for removing them once they bite you. If you don’t remove the entire head of the tick, it can still transfer diseases to you. If you’re trying to remove the tick at home, use a pair of tweezers and try to grab it from the base of the head. If you grab from the body, the head will detach since it burrows into the skin.

Removing ticks is not hard if you have done it before. However, if you are squeamish or are having trouble, visit our walk-in center as soon as you notice the tick.

Lyme Disease Testing near Bennett, CO

As we’ve mentioned, some ticks carry diseases that cause harmful symptoms in humans- Lyme disease being one of the most common. Early symptoms of Lyme disease often occur within a month of being bit, and can include headache, fever, fatigue, and a skin rash. If you leave these symptoms untreated, it can cause facial palsy, intermittent pain, inflammation of the spinal cord or brain, and nerve pain.

Lyme disease can be treated with a series of antibiotics. The prescription typically lasts a month; however, symptoms may persist. There is no rhyme or reason as to why symptoms persist, it is considered an auto-immune response and differs from person to person.

Testing can be conducted in our center, thanks to our on-site lab. Results will be available within a few days, and your provider may recommend you come back for further testing if it’s inconclusive.

AFC Urgent Care FAQs

  • When should I choose urgent care?

If you’re dealing with a pressing, non-life-threatening medical issue and don’t want to see a doctor, urgent care could be for you. AFC walk-in clinics are able to see patients dealing with allergic reactions, broken bones, colds and flus, and much more.

  • Do I need insurance to visit AFC?

At AFC we offer very competitive rates for self-pay urgent care and walk-in clinic services. We understand that not everyone may have an insurance plan and we make sure that our out-of-pocket patients are given the same high-quality medical treatment that we give to all our patients.

  • How long will my visit take?

The main advantage of choosing AFC is our short wait times – often under 15 minutes. The total length of your visit will depend on what you’re being seen for, but many patients can be in and out of our clinics in around 30 minutes.
