Summary:

The Eligibility & Benefits will serve as support for clinics. The Eligibility & Benefits employee will do this by being on the phone queue during the appropriate times answering the calls, registering the patients, and confirming and sending the EPR’s to the patients. The Eligibility & Benefits Employee will support the completion of tasks, and the assumption of some routine workflows and taking ownership of assigned projects. The candidate will be an exemplary role model to the team both internally and externally within the organization. He/She will provide contribution, support, and training to other staff members while on duty.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Being on the phone queue: This will be during the times noted by management answering the calls and assisting the patients. Answered calls by each eligibility & benefits employee is to be no less than 300 calls per week.
  • Registrations: Demographics completed and verified for every pre-registered patient. This includes but is not limited to Checking Name, DOB, M/F against photo ID, phone numbers filled in the top three spots, Address is correct including the apartment according to the registration, emails are in both spots if not marked as confidential, Pharmacy is added if on the registration, and all the boxes with the * is filled out, guarantor if the patient is a minor, and if this is an OCC MED appointment, the employer needs to be filled out. Insurance: Need to complete the insurance information as per the registrations, and cards uploaded and then verify it using our real-time verify button or our website options. Noting on the page the deductible copay or coins information and what needs to be collected for this visit, if Occ Med, or WC, fill out accordingly. Sx’s & Qs Need to be filled out appropriately
  • Confirmation and EPR’s (electronic patient registrations): Confirm newly scheduled patients the first hour in the office and the first hour off of the phone. Then at those times send the EPR reminders to the remaining unregistered patients. (These need to be completed the day of as well as five days out should cover most pt).
  • Training: Assist in the training of the future Hubsters and Front Desk employees using the SOP and Training guide/schedule made available to you. The more knowledge they get from the hub the easier their job will be in the hub or clinic.
  • Regular and consistent attendance is an essential function of this job;
  • Report to work as scheduled, on time, and dressed appropriately;
  • Work with all billing staff members and clinic staff to promote teamwork and help ensure a productive and positive work environment;

Teamwork:

  • Be available to contribute insight and ideas to the coordinator to help the team be more efficient.
  • Be available to the clinics to help out with on the spot needs with patients
  • Be to work on time and support your fellow teammates in any way that you can: Covering/switching shifts, working later, etc.
  • Be support to the upper management and help with any additional tasks that might come your way

Experience:

  • Minimum one year experience working in a medical office or health care setting required
  • Minimum one year of experience working with health insurance plans required
  • Experience in medical billing preferred
  • Experience working with an EMR preferred

Knowledge:

  • Basic knowledge of health insurance and medical coverages required
  • Basic knowledge of medical billing preferred
  • Language Skills:
    • Ability to communicate professionally, respectfully, and effectively with patients and team members in person and over the phone
    • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals

Pay and Benefits:

  • $16.00-$20.00+ / hour DOE
  • Full-Time Benefits Eligible: Medical, Dental, Vision insurances, life insurance, Employee Assistance Program, 401(k) with 3% employer contribution, Paid Time Off
  • Profit-Sharing bonus program paid quarterly (all staff eligible, following a probationary period

Schedules:

  • Full-time, ~40 hrs/week
  • Shifts are set schedules; Sunday-Wednesday OR Wednesday-Saturday.
