How To Recover From a Cold!

October 23, 2018

"

October may be spooky, but scary movies & ghost aren’t the only things you have to be scared of this October! September – December is flu season & it is also the season where we see a rise in Urgent Cares for the most traffic. Basically now is the time of the year when we get sick! If you are suffered from a cold at this time of the year have no fear you are not alone! We want to let you know that you’re not alone & we have some tips that may be able you!

Stay home!

The worst thing you can do when you are sick is to try to keep up with your normal activities. We know nobody wants to take unnecessary time off of work or stop their schedules, but if you aren’t 100% then you will only make yourself worse. Your body is fighting an infection when sick & needs that time to recover. Some things you should reframe from doing:

  • Going to the gym
  • Going to work
  • Going for run
  • Running errands
  • Not eating whole meals

If possible take your sick days & relax, you will thank us later!

Wash your sheets & clothes

It is true that once you beat a virus your body cannot get sick from it again but that does not mean you shouldn’t be washing your sheets/ clothes. The longer you take to wash your clothes the longer it takes to get better. If you sheets are full of bacteria then you are just sitting around in it & that is extremely unsanitary.

Eat Healthily

Your diet should consist of healthy foods when you are sick as well so you can help your body get stronger. If you are sick & decide to eat nothing but candy & ice cream then you will have a hard time getting better because your body won’t get a sufficient amount of energy from the nutrients that those foods produce. However, if you are eating like soup with chicken or another form of protein then you should be feeling better while your body is fighting. Also, make sure you drink a lot of water! Water is the key to feeling better. If you are fevering you are losing water! Make sure to always stay hydrated while you are sick.

We hope these tips will make you feel better & put you on your feet & back into the world faster!
