2015 Fairfield County Doctors of Distinction Award
Granted to Bridgeport Physician
(Bridgeport, Conn. – April 27, 2015) – Dr. Steven Heffer, Medical Director and Owner of AFC Urgent Care in Bridgeport, has been awarded the Community Service Award in the second annual Fairfield County Doctors of Distinction award program. This award, hosted by the Fairfield County Business Journal, Citrin Cooperman, and the Frank H. Netter MD School of Medicine at Quinnipiac University, has been granted to Dr. Heffer in recognition of his pro bono patient medical care services for people in need.
Dr. Heffer decided to open AFC Urgent Care in March 2014 to address the healthcare needs of the Bridgeport community. With over twenty years of experience as an emergency room physician, he was interested in the urgent care model and liked the idea of serving in his community. He believes that the center delivers a superior level of medical care that is unprecedented in the city of Bridgeport and has served more than an urgent care facility; it is a resource center for all of the residents within the town.
“The residents of Bridgeport have come to know and love Dr. Heffer due to his extensive involvement within the community,” said Jennifer Meuser, Center Administrator of AFC in Bridgeport. “Dr. Heffer strives daily to improve the quality of life of the people of Bridgeport. It is his hope that the center will continue to improve health outcomes for our patients as well as build a healthier community in Bridgeport for generations to come.”
The unique Doctors of Distinction award program celebrates the accomplishments of five physicians in Fairfield County judged by a panel of peers and scholars to be the most exemplary in the programs’ categories. In honor of going beyond the diagnosis, Dr. Heffer will be presented the Community Service Award on Tuesday, May 12th at The Lockwood-Mathews Mansion Museum in Norwalk, CT.
