March means we’re in the season of birds chirping, flowers blossoming, and spring sports beginning!
Whether you’re cheering on your student-athlete from the bleachers, or if you’re participating in an adult sports league, injuries can occur. As a parent or an athlete, it’s important to be aware of injuries that can take you off the field and out of the game.
Some injuries we’ve seen at our urgent care center include:
- Bumps and scrapes
- Minor cuts
- Stitches
- Ankle/foot sprains
- Hamstring strain
- Shin splints
- Tennis elbow
At AFC Urgent Care Bridgeport, both of our urgent care center locations are fully equipped with an on-site digital x-ray system to diagnose and treat sport injuries for athletes 1 year or older.
While both of our walk-in clinics can treat a range of common sport and orthopedic injuries, but there are some instances where athletes visit us with concussion symptoms. Depending upon the severity of the concussion, our providers can refer the patient to HeadZone Concussion Care in Shelton, CT.
HeadZone provides comprehensive medical services for recovery management of concussions and post-concussion syndrome. This includes ImPACT testing, King-Devick testing and concussion evaluations and treatment.
