It never fails. You are in the middle of holiday break and—bam—sore throat! Now that you finally have a chance to enjoy time off of school and work, you are hit with a sore throat.
Our team at AFC Urgent Care Chapman Highway wants to offer some insight into what causes a sore throat and when to seek medical attention. Read on as we take a look.
What Is My Sore Throat a Sign Of?
A sore throat is a common symptom for many different medical conditions, including a cold, the flu and even seasonal allergies. So, how can you tell if your sore throat is actually strep?
If you have strep throat, you will likely experience a number of other symptoms along with a sore throat. And those symptoms will likely stick around for longer, making it important to seek medical attention.
Symptoms of Strep Throat
- Abdominal pain
- Chills
- Difficulty swallowing
- Fatigue
- Headaches
- High fever
When Should I See a Doctor for My Sore Throat?
If you have a high fever and a severe sore throat, it is important that you see a doctor immediately to rule out a more severe illness.
But if your throat is just sore and no fever is present, you may be able to find relief with at-home remedies.
