Did you set some lofty health goals for 2020, only to find them left behind when the pandemic hit? You aren’t alone!
While some people used extra time at home to improve their health, others have been overwhelmed by the chaos. But there’s still ample time in 2020 for you to focus on your health!
Read on as our team at AFC Urgent Care Cheltenham offers some suggestions on how to do that.
What Are Some Good Health Goals to Have?
While the healthy habits that will benefit you the most will vary depending on your individual health and your goals, there are some basic best practices that can benefit every person.
Don’t think of healthy habits as something you have to do all at once, either. In fact, that’s usually a recipe for being overwhelmed. Instead, choose one or two to focus in on at first, then build from there.
Healthy Habits
- Eat a balanced diet with plenty of fruits and veggies.
- Get at least 30 minutes of exercise most days.
- Don’t smoke.
- Limit how much alcohol you’re drinking.
- Find healthy ways to manage stress.
- Get between seven and nine hours of sleep each night.
How Much Alcohol Is Too Much?
OK, so we noted above that you should limit how much alcohol you’re drinking. But how much is too much?
Experts recommend limiting your alcohol consumption to one drink per day for women and two drinks per day for men. What makes up a drink varies depending on the type of alcohol you’re consuming.
Alcohol Serving Size
- 12 ounces of regular beer
- 8 ounces of malt liquor
- 5 ounces of wine
- 1.5 ounces of distilled spirits
