Each year, students are required to undergo a physical examination to check for injuries and medical conditions prior to returning to school. Because physicals are required by state law, your child’s primary care physician may be booked up weeks in advance, leaving you unable to schedule an appointment. If that is the case, visit AFC Urgent Care Conshohocken! Our walk-in urgent care center works with school districts to provide examinations that meet each district’s standards.
During a physical, our clinicians will perform a complete check of your child, including a review of medical history and making sure all vaccinations are up to date. If a potential issue is discovered, our center will be able to work with your child’s doctor to provide treatment and future care for the issue. Physicals are especially critical if your child participates in sports, where an undetected medical issue or injury can affect the level of play or even be exacerbated and lead to a medical emergency. Some of the things checked during a school physical include:
The physical examination on file with your child’s school must be updated within 30 days of the first day of school. If your child is participating in athletics, a physical should be performed prior to the first practice of the season. Check with your school to see if a sports physical needs to be updated prior to each season.
If you are in need of a school physical for your child, visit AFC Urgent Care Conshohocken today! Our urgent care center is open 7 days per week, with convenient evening and weekend hours to accommodate your busy schedule. For more information about our services, please call (484) 243-6735 or check-in online to reserve your spot.
AFC offers some of the lowest wait times around, with many patients getting in to see a provider in less than 15 minutes. Your exam will probably take around a half hour.
We’ll complete your paperwork as required, but if it’s something we can help with we might be able to provide you with treatment on the spot. With in-house labs at many locations, you could be on your way without the need for a second visit.
You can stop into any AFC, any time. Check out our list of locations to find the one nearest you.
