The United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) requires you to get a full immigration physical exam. This exam is to make sure you don’t have physical issues or mental disorders that may prevent you from being approved. Our physicians understand that USCIC doctors must follow the government’s strict guidelines and procedures for your exams. You can rest assured that your forms and report will be done correctly.
An immigration physical is a medical examination required by authorities in the United States as part of the process for obtaining certain visas or changing your immigration status. The purpose is to assess your health and determine if you have any communicable diseases, health conditions or mental disorders that could pose a risk to public health and safety.
If you are applying for an immigrant visa, also known as permanent residency or green card, you will need to undergo an immigration physical as part of the visa application process. Individuals who are already in the country on a temporary visa (such as a student visa) and are applying to adjust their status to become permanent residents may also need to have one. In some cases, individuals applying for certain types of work visas may need to undergo medical examinations, including immigration physicals, particularly if they are planning to work in fields that involve public health or safety concerns.
Please make sure you bring the most complete and up-to-date documentation to your appointment. In addition to your Form I-693, bring your government-valid ID or passport, medical and vaccination records for the doctor. If you don’t have proof of your vaccinations, you can request a blood test to prove immunization.
During the immigration physical, one of our licensed physicians will perform a comprehensive medical examination, which may include:
At the end of your appointment, your doctor will fill out the rest of your I-693 Form and put it in a sealed envelope. You will need to send the unopened envelope as is, to the USCIS by following their instructions. Remember, the USCIS will not accept the envelope if it’s been tampered with in any way.
