Yes! Our center will be equipped with a wide variety of diagnostic tools to help us get to the root cause of your injury or illness. This includes our state-of-the-art digital X-ray equipment! X-rays help us get a closer look at what is causing you pain or discomfort by giving us an inside look into your body.
Our digital X-ray technology is faster and more accurate than traditional X-rays, which will help us be more confident in a diagnosis for you.
Read on as our AFC Urgent Care Dalton team explains what digital X-rays are and how we can use them to help you feel better.
What Is a Digital X-ray?
Digital X-rays use X-ray beams just like traditional X-rays do, but the image is developed into a different format. Traditional X-rays are developed onto film, whereas digital X-rays are uploaded onto a computer. They work kind of like the camera on your phone, where the image is taken and then immediately captured and uploaded.
This digital image is available right away for review, and we can manipulate the photo by zooming in or rotating the image to get a better view of the injury or condition we are investigating. This image is clearer and crisper than a traditional X-ray film image, which allows us to recognize and diagnose the smallest of fractures and the beginnings of an infection.
Conditions That X-rays Can Detect
- Fractures
- Kidney stones
- Chest and lung issues like pneumonia
- Abnormal masses or tumors
Is Radiation Exposure Still a Concern With Digital X-rays?
Even though digital X-ray technology is more advanced than traditional x-rays, they still use X-ray beams to take the image. This means that there is still a minute amount of radiation exposure. However, digital X-rays emit about 80% less than their traditional counterparts!
We will be able to offer our X-ray services to everyone in our community 6 months of age or older, and you can stop by any day of the week without an appointment. We have X-ray techs who can provide you with a clear image and our doctors can use that image to diagnose you with confidence.
