COVID-19 has put a pause, or at least an intermission to yet another holiday.
We are now paying the price for our Thanksgiving gatherings and travel as evidenced by the huge spike in COVID-19 cases. COVID-19 is very much still prevalent throughout the states and across the world, and cases, hospitalization rates and deaths continue to rise around the U.S.
We do NOT want a repeat of this from December holiday celebrations. Connecticut is still in Phase 2.1 for a reason, and as the winter holidays approach, we have to limit our celebrations with hopes of leaving COVID-19 behind in 2020. AFC Urgent Care Danbury is here to inform and guide everyone with a health and safety checklist for a COVID-19 Christmas.
Christmas Traveling Checklist
Traveling around the U.S has been getting stricter these past few weeks. COVID-19 is hot in over 45 locations in the United States and Connecticut is no exception. You definitely want to check out these red zone states so that you can make a decision on whether or not it’s a good idea to travel.
We highly suggest avoiding travel right now. If your grandparents or relatives live in a red zone state or community in Connecticut. that has a high number of cases, you can always host a virtual Christmas and New Years celebration. This way, it will help protect you and your loved ones from possible exposure. Better safe than sorry!
If you choose to travel, we suggest bringing extra masks, and hand sanitizer with you. You should avoid touching your face, eyes and mouth and make sure that you are washing your hands frequently. Maintain social distancing as much as is possible, and celebrate outdoors where possible. We also advise that you check to see if cases are high in your community or at your destination before you travel. This way you know whether or not to travel, or to tell relatives who live in hot spots avoid traveling to you.
Firepits are this year’s best holiday present!!
Lastly, get tested for COVID-19 before you go.
Getting COVID-19 tested and Flu Vaccinated before Christmas and New Years
This brings us to our next point. Get tested before your celebrations! This way, you are not bringing the virus with you if you do plan on traveling. Getting tested is one of the most important tasks you should include in your COVID-19 health and safety checklist. In addition to this, you should also get vaccinated for the flu. Flu season has just started and you don’t want to confuse it with COVID-19. A flu shot will help provide immunity and keep your loved ones safe from getting the flu.
**Important: Avoid non essential contact with others for at least 14 days prior to your plans. Don’t get caught with the flu or COVID-19 before Christmas and New Years. Get tested and get vaccinated for the Flu
