Urgent Care Centers Faster And More Convenient Than Emergency Rooms

November 19, 2014

Imagine what would happen if you were in a tragic car accident. Authorities would, no doubt, make certain that you were rushed to the hospital. The emergency room would do its very best to accommodate you, but -- this time -- the fact remains that there simply aren't enough rooms, there aren't enough beds, and there are too few doctors and nurses on staff to see you right away. It sounds like a nightmare, doesn't it?

Unfortunately, this can and does happen, thanks to ER overcrowding. Too many Americans turn to the emergency room in inappropriate situations -- like when their regular doctor's offices are closed, or if they do not have health insurance. There is a solution, however. Community health clinics and/or urgent care facilities can help patients get care whenever they need it (even if it's late or a weekend!) and taking advantage of these facilities can help keep hospital beds open for those who truly need them. Here are just a few of the benefits of medical walk in clinics.

Urgent Care Centers Can Help You With Pretty Much Anything
The 6,800 urgent care clinics in the U.S. treat a variety of ailments, illnesses, and injuries -- including (but not limited to!): concussions, lacerations, upper respiratory infections and illnesses, sprains, strains, fractures, food poisoning and other stomach viruses, and more. Some centers even provide reproductive health services, such as on-site STD testing. Moreover, nearly all clinics accept a variety of family health care plans, working with you no matter what your insurance covers (or doesn't cover).

No Matter What, You Will Get The Care You Need
Some patients are worried about what may happen if they are in the wrong place. In other words, although urgent care centers can adeptly treat broken bones and lacerations, they do not care for heart attack patients. They do, however, make certain you are in the right place. If symptoms turn out to be much worse than you thought, staff will quickly and efficiently make sure you are transferred to the emergency room, if and when necessary.

Don't contribute to one of the worst problems in the U.S., ER overcrowding. Urgent care centers will accept family health care plans, they will be open non-traditional hours, and they can quickly treat a variety of condition, illnesses, and injuries.
