AFC Urgent Care Denver's latest COVID-19 updates: air filtration and safety measures

November 3, 2020

The COVID-19 pandemic has made it harder and more anxiety inducing to get general medical services and with good reason. As cases continue to rise it is not easy to determine which medical provider can issue standard healthcare services with safety in mind. If you need a fast and reliable nearby urgent care center for preventive care, flu shots, x-rays, and more then consider AFC Urgent Care Denver: one of the only urgent care center networks that includes state of the art COVID-19 safety measures and protocols.

New technologies at our urgent care centers allow patients to safely visit any of our providers to receive any urgent care services without the risk of a COVID infection or other seasonal illnesses. Keep reading below to learn more about our air filtration technology and COVID-19 safety procedures.

Air filtration tech at our urgent care centers protects patients from infections

AFC Urgent Care Denver has installed state-of-the-art air filtration and COVID-19 filtration technology to ensure that your exposure to the virus is as limited as possible during your visit. The technology, which is developed by Global Phasma Solutions (GPS), effectively reduces a significant portion of infectious COVID-19 particles in the nearby air. COVID-19 spreads via respiratory particles and requires an innovative solution to ensure that all patients get tested without an incidental exposure to the virus. Here is how the system works, per GPS:

“Needlepoint Bipolar Ionization (NPBI) technology safely creates and releases ions into the airstream using your existing HVAC system as the delivery method. When these ions disperse throughout a space, they seek out and form bonds with particles in the air through a process called agglomeration. This creates a snowball effect in which particles begin to cluster together. The larger a cluster of particles becomes, the easier it is for your system to safely filter it out of the air.”

Recent studies of GPS’s air filtration systems found that COVID pathogens were reduced by 90% in sensitivity studies using NBPI  and by nearly 99% when observed in a specialty study.

COVID-19 safety and infection control protocols to keep patients safe
