AFC Urgent Care Fairfield Celebrates One-Year Anniversary

Fairfield, CT, November 10, 2016 –- AFC Urgent Care, the leading provider of urgent care in the U.S., is celebrating the first anniversary of its Fairfield center this fall.
Since AFC Fairfield opened for business in October 2015, the state-of-the-art clinic has served over 9,000 patients with fast, convenient and affordable care for non-life threatening medical emergencies and routine health needs. Experienced clinicians can promptly treat injuries such as sprains, fractures and concussions plus infections and illnesses. Other services include in-house lab tests and x-rays, occupational health, sports and school physicals, vaccinations and travel medicine. AFC accepts most insurance plans and self-payment.
The Fairfield urgent care center has been praised by patients for its compassionate medical staff, clean, inviting facility, lower copays, efficient service and walk-in accessibility. Center statistics for the past year show that the average patient spent a total of 46 minutes per visit, including 11 minutes of wait time. The clinic is open 8 am to 8 pm seven days a week.
Dr. Steven Heffer, M.D., FACEP, AFC’s owner and medical director, is a 16-year resident of Fairfield. Dr. Heffer has received multiple awards, including the Doctors of Distinction Community Service Award from the Fairfield County Business Journal in 2015 in recognition of his passion for providing the highest level of medical care and service to his community.

Dr. Susana Querido, M.D., travels from Queens to work at AFC Fairfield. According to Dr. Querido, “I enjoy AFC’s fast-paced environment, the professional staff and the Fairfield community. With our wide range of medical services and full lab capabilities in-house, I can treat everything from colds and flu to lacerations and other minor surgical procedures. Patients value being able to walk in without an appointment, spend less time waiting to be seen and pay lower fees vs. a trip to the emergency room. Best of all, I can practice medicine the way I want – spending more time with patients. They definitely appreciate their time with the physician and never feel rushed.”
Dr. Heffer, Dr. Querido and other clinicians also update patients’ primary care offices on treatment received at AFC and refer them to medical specialists if needed. A board-certified physician is on-site at the clinic every day.
AFC Urgent Care provides services to many local residents and businesses, including fellow members of the Chamber of Commerce. Todd Rowe is president of BitX Funding in Fairfield, a Chamber board member and town native. Michelle Sanford, co-owner of Fairfield County Moms Blog and a Fairfield mother of three, discovered on returning from a family vacation that a cut on her son’s foot appeared to be seriously infected. She related, “Of course it was a late Friday afternoon, our doctor had left early, and the nurse practitioner couldn’t see us for another 4 hours! What’s a mom to do? It wasn’t a huge emergency that I could walk into the ER, but I also couldn’t wait a moment longer to see a doctor. With a quick Google search, I found AFC Urgent Care was just around the corner….with board-certified physicians that are qualified to care for patients 1 year or older.” Upon arrival, Ms. Sanford was greeted by the friendly staff, her son was put at ease as he was examined and prescribed medication for the infection, and soon they were on their way.
Ms. Sanford has since let other mothers know about AFC, concluding “Every mom needs a professional, reliable and caring place to turn to when an emergency occurs….we needed care and AFC Urgent Care was there.”
