Farmingdale PCR Rapid Testing at AFC Urgent Care

At AFC Urgent Care, we pride ourselves on providing high-quality compassionate medical care. As part of our ongoing commitment to patients, we perform COVID-19 diagnostic PCR testing. Most people who contract COVID-19 will experience mild to moderate cold or flu-like symptoms and will recover fully.

Who Is Eligible For Covid-19 Diagnostic PCR Testing?

Testing is available without an appointment for symptomatic as well as asymptomatic patients aged one (1) year or older. Symptomatic patients are those with fever, shortness of breath, cough, and/or body aches; while asymptomatic patients have no such symptoms. In either case, our medical providers can administer a PCR test following a thorough medical examination. If you have recently tested positive for covid-19, you may not present at our center for a covid-19 PCR test until you have completed the requisite requisite isolation period.

What Can I Expect When I Go To AFC Urgent Care For PCR Testing?

We ask that you wear a mask when coming to our center for testing. Depending on the number of patients in our waiting room, we may ask that you wait in your car in order to practice social distancing. PCR testing involves a nasal swab. The sample is then sent to an outside lab for processing. Upon receipt, our clinical staff will promptly call to inform you of your results.

What Is The Difference Between PCR Testing And Antibody Testing?

PCR testing, performed with a nasal swab, is used to detect the active COVID-19 virus so as to diagnose infection. Antibody testing, performed with a blood test, may detect whether antibodies have been formed two weeks after initial exposure.
