We know you are concerned about the Coronavirus (COVID -19). At American Family Care, our patient’s safety is our top priority. While the overall risk of COVID-19 in the United States to the general public remains low at this time we can all take proactive steps to reduce the risk of exposure for ourselves, our loved ones and our communities.
Coronavirus is thought to spread mainly between people who are in close contact with one another (within about 6 feet) through respiratory droplets produced when an infected person coughs or sneezes.
Patients with COVID-19 have had mild to severe respiratory illness with symptoms for
We are currently in cold and flu season, our AFC Urgent Care locations continue to see a significant number of patients with symptoms like fever, cough and body aches. If you are feeling ill, it is more likely to be the cold or flu rather than the Coronavirus.
If you are in respiratory distress, please call 911. If you have a fever, cough, and other symptoms of a respiratory infection, please call your closest American Family Care Urgent Care Center. As a precaution, if you have been exposed to the 2019 Coronavirus or have traveled outside the country please call the Department of Health for further Assistance.
All American Family Care locations are staffed and trained on the appropriate care for patients with flu-like symptoms and are wearing masks and using protective equipment when appropriate. We are following CDC and DOH guidelines to limit the spread of the virus including how we isolate patients with symptoms and how we disinfect rooms between patients.
We encourage patients to remain calm and use the following resources from the New York, Nassau and Suffolk Department of Health and Centers for Disease Control to prepare and prevent the spread of infection.
