What Are the Symptoms of Hemorrhoids?
There are three different types of hemorrhoids, each with varying symptoms and causes:
Internal hemorrhoids: these are hemorrhoids that form inside of the anus that go generally undetected. However, if they become irritated, you may notice blood in your stool or on the toilet paper during bowel movements. It can become painful if it begins to protrude outside of the anus.
External hemorrhoids: external ones form under the skin, outside of the anus and are very noticeable. External hemorrhoids generally cause itching and irritation, pain (especially when sitting), swelling, and bleeding.
Thrombosed hemorrhoids: thrombosed hemorrhoids are external hemorrhoids with a blood clot inside of them. The clotting will generally cause severe pain, swelling, and it becomes a hard lump.
