Is Getting Tested for an STD Easy?

Your sexual health is just as important as the rest of your physical health, even though many people have a hard time talking about it freely. We understand! It can be a sensitive topic, but that doesn’t mean you don’t have to address issues if they pop up unexpectedly.

If you are sexually active, getting tested for STDs is something you should be doing regularly, especially if you are switching partners.

AFC Urgent Care Fountain City is the place to be when you are in need of an STD test, and we explain how we can help you a bit more below.

Do I Have an STD if I Feel Fine?

Unfortunately, you might. STDs are tricky, because sometimes you can have one and not even know it! If you contract an STD that produces no symptoms, you could be spreading it around and starting an outbreak without even meaning to. This is why regular testing is encouraged.

You can catch an STD before you spread it, which not only protects you from chronic issues, but it protects your partner and fellow community. No matter if you are feeling symptoms, come see us routinely for our series of tests. We can get you results in as little as 30 minutes for some STDs!

Some STDs We Can Test for at AFC Fountain City

  • Chlamydia
  • Gonorrhea
  • Syphilis
  • Trichomoniasis

How Do Tests Detect STDs?

Depending on your symptoms or what you are requesting to be tested for, we have a variety of different ways that we can go about a diagnosis. A physical swab, blood draw or urine sample will be taken and then processed in our lab. Once the results are in, we can discuss any diagnoses and can help you on the road to recovery.

If you have always felt like you wanted to come in for an STD test but have felt too shy or uncomfortable to do so, we promise we will make the process easy and encouraging. You won’t be our first patient to request one of our STD rapid tests, and you certainly won’t be the last!

STD Prevention in the Future

  • Test frequently/before a new relationship.
  • Communicate any diagnoses with your partner.
  • Always wear a condom.
  • Get vaccinated for hepatitis A, hepatitis B and HPV.
