Can I get a DOT Physical at AFC Urgent Care Greenwood?
Yes! Anyone living in Greenwood, Coronaca, Wheatfield, Windtree, or Timberlake can receive a DOT Physical from our board-certified doctors. Not every doctor can administer this specialized physical, only certified DOT Physical Providers can give this physical needed to obtain or renew a commercial driver’s license. Fortunately, our doctors at our urgent care center are all certified to meet your needs. No appointment is needed to visit our clinic, and you can receive a DOT Physical any day of the week!
How long does a DOT Physical take to complete?
A DOT Physical usually takes about thirty minutes to complete. Occasionally your visit may be more extended if we are experiencing high patient volume or if patient acuity is more severe than usual. More often than not, this occurs during a bad flu season. Feel free to call ahead to check what a possible wait time is like before you visit!
What does a DOT Physical consist of?
A DOT Physical has many aspects of a regular physical. You’ll be examined by our board-certified doctor who will record your vital signs, including your height, weight, blood pressure, heart rate, and lung capacity. A DOT Physical also often requires several further tests and screenings to ensure you are medically fit to operate a commercial vehicle. Our walk-in urgent care center is equipped with a lab on site that can handle most of these tests while you wait. You should be able to complete your entire DOT Physical at AFC Urgent Care Greenwood in a single visit!
Your DOT Physical will include:
- Urinalysis
- Measurement of your heart rate, weight, and blood pressure
- Screening and testing of your vision, hearing, and lung capacity
- A detailed review of your medical history, including any chronic diseases
Why do I need a DOT Physical every two years?
This physical is mandated by the Department of Transportation and must be repeated every two years to maintain your CDL. More frequent physicals may be needed if you have a chronic condition that requires more stringent monitoring. If this is the case, our doctor will review with you why this is a concern.
Can AFC Urgent Care Greenwood give me a DOT Physical when I first apply for a CDL or just for renewals?
You can come to our walk-in urgent care center for renewals or your initial application! We have helped many of our neighbors in Timberlake, Wheatfield, Windtree, Coronaca, and Greenwood with their CDLs and we look forward to doing the same for you! When your examination is finished, and you’ve passed all of the requirements, you will receive a laminated DOT Medical Card and a complete medical examination report.
Does my insurance pay for a DOT Physical?
Unfortunately, most insurance companies do not cover the costs associated with a DOT Physical. However, many nearby businesses have corporate accounts with us to pay for their employee’s DOT Physical and to facilitate their visits to our clinic. If you’d like to set up an account with us, call our friendly staff today at (864) 223-3858.
