COVID-19 RAPID & PCR TESTING FOR Haverhill, SALEM, NAHANT, PEABODY, LYNN, & MARBLEHEAD PATIENTS

AFC Urgent Care Haverhill offers on-site Rapid PCR Testing (results within an hour), General PCR, anti-body and antigen testing for COVID-19 for the communities of Haverhill, Salem, Nahant, Peabody, Lynn, & Marblehead. We highly advise that you consult with our staff to determine the most appropriate test for your symptoms and situation.

It is our policy to not charge patients that have COVID symptoms or exposure- we will always have these patients evaluated by a medical provider such as a nurse practitioner or doctor.

We conduct all testing inside our state of the art facilities in Methuen, North Andover, Haverhill and Beverly. Each exam room has a HEPA filtration device that also passes all the air inside the room through an ultraviolet light that is effective at removing pathogens smaller than SARS COV-2.

We do not currently offer the option to be tested outside the clinic.

We are able to accommodate most patients on a walk-in basis (no appointment needed), but online registration is still strongly recommended to guarantee a spot and reduce time spent filling out paperwork on site. No appointment is ever needed for travel or self-pay testing.

NOTE: There are occasions when we may not be able to take medical provider visits due to very high volumes. If that is the case we will do our best to book you into one of our nearby centers or the next day.

Most insurance companies are covering the cost of COVID-19 evaluation and testing- we recommend that you reach out directly to your insurance company for confirmation before your visit. Copays and deductibles may apply, depending on your insurance company.

In general, testing for purposes that are not medically necessary (travel, return to work, return to school) is not covered by insurance*. We do offer testing for these reasons (please see pricing below).

*All BCBS member IDs that begin with “R” are covered for travel (or any other purposes not covered by medical necessity). Your insurance company may assess a copay or deductible.

If you don’t fit the medically necessary testing criteria (see above) or do not have insurance we offer very affordable rates for testing. The current pricing for testing is provided below. We strongly encourage you to discuss your condition, symptoms and reasoning for asking for testing with our staff to determine which test is most appropriate for your situation.

Each test has different purposes- however, all 3 PCR tests below are true RT-PCR:

  • Cepheid/Accula RT-PCR | $199: this is meant for patients that need to obtain timely, accurate results for travel, return to work or return to school. This testing is currently only offered for travel and is not covered by insurance. Results are available within 1 hour. Please obtain results before leaving the facility- we cannot email them.
  • Rapid Antigen | $59: this is not as accurate as a PCR but is suitable for most purposes. Results are available within 15-20 minutes. This test is covered by insurance when ordered by a medical provider. Patients can also pay for this test without needing to see a medical provider if testing is for a non-covered reason. Please obtain results before leaving the facility- we cannot email them.
  • Broad PCR | $99: this is for patients that need the accuracy of PCR but do not need results immediately. This testing is not covered by insurance. Results are available typically by the following morning or within 24-48 hours from when the sample is sent to the lab- they are sent directly to your email.
  • Labcorp PCR: this test is covered by insurance when ordered by a medical provider. Patient must see a provider for this test. Results typically take 24-48 hours but may take longer. We do NOT call for negative results- please obtain them directly from the lab here: https://patient.labcorp.com/

Yes, we do! We provide PCR and antigen testing for travel. We have the ability to run our own PCR tests onsite with results available within 30-60 minutes- this is ideal for travel as you do not need to wait several days for results and risk missing your flight.

Please note that it is your responsibility to check your destination’s requirements before you get tested. Many destinations, for example, will only accept a PCR test within 72 hours of travel. Some will accept it within 10 days of travel. Others will accept a rapid antigen test. We are unable to offer refunds if you order the test too soon or order the wrong test. Our staff are unable to offer clear guidance on this as there are dozens of destinations, each of which have different and continuously changing requirements.

If you would like to book your test ahead of time on a particular time-slot of your choosing, you can book a testing appointment online. That way you spend less time filling out paperwork when you get to the clinic for your booked time.

It depends on the kind of test you have. We have the ability to conduct PCR and antigen tests onsite and offer results within 30-60 minutes. Lab based PCRs typically take between 24-48 hours (for Quest PCR).

For all rapid tests done at our facility (PCR or antigen) please make sure to obtain results before you leave, especially if the result is time sensitive for travel. We cannot take responsibility for patients that missed their flight because they did not wait for their test results.

For tests that we send to a lab using insurance for symptomatic patients, results are available at Quest- https://www.questdiagnostics.com/patients/test-results

Our COVID-19 testing center is minutes away from the communities of Salem, Nahant, Peabody, Lynn, & Marblehead.

AFC Urgent Care FAQs

  • Why does AFC provide two different COVID tests?

We offer a rapid test because they provide highly reliable results on the spot; however, they do produce more false negatives than the RT-PCR COVID-19 Test. Doing both tests is our way of ensuring that you get the most accurate results possible without having to put your life on hold.

  • How long does it take to get a COVID test?

We're able to get many patients in and out in a matter of minutes, but the length of time you'll spend in our clinic will depend on wait times that day.

  • How much does it cost to get a COVID test?

That will ultimately depend on your insurance coverage. Presently, many people with insurance are able to get tested at no charge. If you’re uninsured, AFC’s cash pay prices are highly competitive – contact us for the details.
