Clinic & COVID-19 Information for Patients

AFC Urgent Care understands your concerns and apprehensions regarding the novel coronavirus (COVID-19). Our focus is, as always, on the wellbeing of our patients, staff, and communities. The outbreak and spread of COVID-19 necessitate that our practice adopts certain policies intended to minimize the risk of exposure for everyone.

Appointment Information:

  • Most patients will see a provider via telemedicine appointment. If needed, a provider will schedule you for an in-person appointment.
  • All patients must undergo an initial assessment for COVID-19 symptoms by phone prior to their visit. All patients will also be screened and/or tested in person prior to entering our facilities.

Once you arrive at the clinic:

  1. Remain in your vehicle after you park.
  2. From your vehicle, notify us that you have arrived by calling 503-305-6262 or responding to the appointment confirmation text AFC sent you.
  3. You will be provided with instructions on the next steps via phone, depending on your symptoms or visit type

It is our goal to make this process as safe and as convenient as possible. We appreciate your patience and understanding.

COVID-19 Testing Options:

Our clinics are safely and actively testing for COVID-19. We offer 4 test options:

Molecular PCR Test (SARS-CoV-2 RNA):

  • This test is an RT-PCR (Reverse Transcription Polymerase Chain Reaction)It is performed by taking a sample from Nasopharynx with or without a second sample from Oropharynx (via nasal and/or throat swab)
  • This test is best used for patients who have symptoms, but can also be used for asymptomatic patients as they can still spread the virus unknowingly
  • Detects the presence of the virus
  • This lab test has 99% accuracy, but false negatives are a possibility
  • Results must be interpreted by a clinic physician
  • Lab results are typically available within 24 hours but may take up to 72 hours.

Rapid Molecular Test (SARS-CoV-2):

  • This test is valid for travel to certain destinations. If you are traveling, please check that this test will be accepted at your destination.
  • This test is a NAAT (Nucleic Acid Amplification Test) and it determines if the individual being tested has an active infection.
  • It is performed by taking a sample from Nasopharynx with or without a second sample from Oropharynx (via nasal and/or throat swab)
  • This test is best used for patients who have symptoms, but can also be used for asymptomatic patients as they can still spread the virus unknowingly
  • Detects the presence of the virus.
  • This lab test has 99% accuracy, but false negatives are a possibility
  • Results must be interpreted by a clinic physician
  • Results available within 15-60 minutes. Convenient for travelers who need results prior to flight departures.

Rapid SARS Antigen FIA Test (COVID-19):

  • This test determines if the individual being tested has an active infection
  • It is performed by taking a sample from the Nasal/Nasopharynx
  • This test is best used for workers who have symptoms, but can also be used for asymptomatic workers as they can still spread the virus unknowingly
  • Detects the presence of the antigen, not the body’s immune response
  • This lab test has 99% accuracy, but false negatives are a possibility
  • Results must be interpreted by a clinic physician
  • Results available within 15-60 minutes

Antibody Test (SARS-CoV-2 Serology, Antibody (IgG) Immunoassay}:

  • This test determines the presence of antibodies to COVID-19 and can help to identify individuals who have been exposed to the virus.
  • It is performed via a blood draw
  • Must wait for 7 days or more after the first day of showing symptoms, or 8-10 days after exposure for best accuracy
  • This test is NOT used to determine active infection
  • This test is used ONLY for asymptomatic patients and will only confirm previous exposure.
  • It is not known whether individuals who are positive for IgG (antibody test) can have reinfection.
  • Results must be interpreted by a clinic physician.
  • Results available in 2-4 days.

COVID-19 Testing and Safety:

  • Our clinics perform Antigen, Antibody, and RNA testing. Talk to one of our providers about which test is right for you. In some cases, a provider may recommend both tests during your office visit.
  • Our clinic staff is well trained on the very latest COVID-19 protocols. Patients should feel confident that all precautions are followed to keep our patients and community safe.
  • In addition to complying with the CDC and OHA guidelines for proper healthcare, provider hygiene, and surface disinfection, we undergo a sequence of relentless cleaning and sanitation measures
  • All team members remain diligent about frequent hand washing and utilizing hand sanitizer before and after every visit
  • Patients undergo an initial assessment for COVID-19 symptoms by phone or in-person prior to entering our facilities. For everyone’s safety, we are requiring all patients to remain in their vehicles and call the clinic for instructions upon arrival.
  • Our clinics are actively testing for COVID-19 (when appropriate).

Telemedicine

As we work to limit the spread of COVID-19, Telemedicine is a very convenient, safe, and preferred option for most patients. Visit our Telemedicine page for information on how Telemedicine visits work. We will schedule you an in-person follow-up visit if a face-to-face visit is needed.

Telemedicine visits can be used to address most healthcare concerns - including sending off prescriptions if needed. If the provider believes it would be best to come into our clinic, the portion you paid through this Virtual Visit will be applied to your overall bill!

We are pleased to be able to offer you access to a provider LIVE via the following devices:

  • Smart Phone (using your phone’s camera)
  • Tablet (with audio and camera capabilities)
  • Laptop (with audio and camera capabilities)
  • Desktop (with audio and camera capabilities)
