COVID-19, also referred to as the novel coronavirus, is a new strain of upper respiratory infection. After its initial discovery in late 2019, the virus has quickly spread worldwide, with over 140,000 cases in New Jersey alone. Due to the new age of the virus, a vaccination is still being researched. AFC Urgent Care Hillsdale is able to perform COVID-19 diagnostic testing on patients after a telemedicine screening to go over symptoms.
Symptoms of COVID-19
Cases of COVID-19 may include:
- Dry cough
- Fever
- Headache
- Shortness of breath
- Loss of sense of smell or taste
Symptoms may vary from person to person, and asymptomatic cases have proven to be common. Symptoms may develop between two and fourteen days after initial exposure to the virus. COVID-19 is spread through direct contact with an infected person or surface or through community spread, which is when you are unsure of when you came into contact with the virus.
Diagnostic testing
AFC Urgent Care Hillsdale requires a telemedicine visit prior to visiting our center for testing. During the virtual visit you will be able to go over your symptoms with your physician in order to determine if you meet our criteria for testing. Please make sure you are wearing a mask or protective face covering when you visit our center. Call from the parking lot in order for our staff to direct you to the correct entrance for testing. After the nasal swab is taken, your results will be available within several days.
