Huntersville COVID-19 Information from AFC Urgent Care

A titled photo saying “COVID-19” with virus models in the background.

When the pandemic hit, AFC Urgent Care was one of the first medical practices to provide rapid COVID-19 testing. We jumped into action to provide care to our community, setting up triage tents and screening facilities, modifying our infrastructure and creating new protocols. We invested in rapid testing technology and provided our team with the necessary personal protective equipment (PPE). Our team worked hard to research the virus, network with hospitals and care units, and provide relief and care to our patients.

The effects of COVID-19 are seen everywhere. While North Carolina no longer updates their COVID-19 information, it is undeniable to see how it has impacted and continues to be a part of our everyday life. For example, Mecklenburg County's last statistic in 2023 had a total of 371,088 cases and 1,932 deaths hitting the community and families hard. We have a variety of resources available to help you stay up to date with the latest coronavirus news, guidelines, and safety protocols. We also provide tips and advice on how to prevent the spread of the virus, and how to protect yourself and your loved ones. Remember, it's up to all of us to keep Huntersville healthy and vibrant. By following the necessary precautions, we can all do our part to make sure the community remains a safe and wonderful place to live.

COVID-19 Precautions:

There are several precautions that you can take to reduce your risk of getting sick with COVID-19. Here are six of the most effective measures you can take:

  • Wear a mask that covers your nose and mouth when you are in confined spaces or around other people who do not live with you, especially during colder months.
  • Wash your hands frequently with soap and warm water for at least 20 seconds. Use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer if soap and water are not available.
  • Avoid close contact with people who are sick with any type of illness.
  • Stay home if you are feeling unwell or have any symptoms of respiratory illness such as a fever, cough, or difficulty breathing.
  • Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces using a household cleaning spray or wipes.
  • Get vaccinated if you are able.

By following these precautions, you can help to protect yourself and others from COVID-19.

COVID-19 Symptoms to watch for:

Huntersville, NC might be a part of the Charlotte metropolitan area but needs no introduction for its rich agricultural history, Carolina Renaissance Festival, and Lake Norman adventures. Huntersville is the largest town in North Mecklenburg County and draws in many to its Lata Nature Preserve, Quest Center educational exhibit, and Historic Rural Hill. As employees head back to work and engage in social events around the city, it is essential to be aware of the signs and symptoms of COVID-19.

The most common symptoms of COVID-19 are fever, fatigue and dry cough. Other symptoms of COVID-19 may include:

  • Aches and pains
  • Sore throat
  • Diarrhea
  • Headache
  • Difficulty breathing or shortness of breath

It's important to note that some people with COVID-19 may not have any symptoms at all, while others may experience severe symptoms that require hospitalization. If you develop any of these symptoms, avoid public areas and visit our clinic for further consultation.
