Our team at AFC Urgent Care Knoxville understands that you have been working hard to get your summer body. But now that summer is in full motion, it’s time to make sure to maintain your healthy figure with these tips. What’s Your Fitness Routine? Before beginning any exercise routine, make sure you drink plenty of water. While you can become dehydrated throughout the year, the summer months increase your chances of dehydration because you sweat more in the heat. Therefore, make sure you are drinking water before, during and after your workout, in addition to sipping on water throughout the day. Also, when trying to stay on a fitness routine throughout the summer, bring a friend! There is strength in numbers. Plus, a morning run with a friend has dual purposes—you’ll be able to fit in a workout before the busy day arrives while also catching up on what’s going on in your friend’s life. Be sure to also breathe during your fitness routine. Sometimes people can get caught holding their breath when lifting weights or running hard. But if you are holding your breath, you aren’t allowing oxygen to move through your blood and muscles, which can cause you to cramp up and even faint. Therefore, make sure you are breathing in and out correctly when working out. Finally, don’t get stuck in a rut. It’s summertime. Get creative! Take a yoga mat to the beach with you so you can enjoy your workout while also listening the waves. Bring a protein drink with you on your walk if you feel like you have to choose between exercise and food! Remember, the summer is supposed to be fun—and so are your workouts! Combine the two in order to have a happy, healthy summer. Remember to always speak with a physician at AFC Urgent Care Knoxville before starting any new diet or workout routine.
