How does Drive-up COVID Testing Work?

As the pandemic develops, COVID testing is being conducted in a variety of ways to help keep patients and staff safe. One way to get tested is through drive-thru testing, where you never have to leave your car. AFC Urgent Care Boulder offers drive-thru testing for asymptomatic patients. This means, if you were exposed to someone with COVID but aren’t sure if you have it, your risk of catching it is even lower.

How does PCR Testing Work?

diagnostic PCR test works by detecting an active strain of the COVID-19 virus. Receiving a negative result means there is not an active strain of the virus in the sample, or the test was conducted too early after exposure. A sample is obtained by using a swab on the inside of a patient’s nose. From there, the sample is sent to a local lab and tested for the virus. Results are available within two to four days on the patient portal.

What is the process for drive-up testing?

At AFC Urgent Care Boulder, the drive-up testing process is easy and convenient. The first step is to schedule an appointment at our location. From there, the only thing left to do is show up at AFC Urgent Care Boulder at the time of the appointment and park in one of our designated testing parking spots. From there, one of our doctors will come to your car and collect your ID and health insurance.

At the time of scheduling, a link would have been sent to your phone. Once prompted, you can click on that link, and a telemedicine visit will begin. Here, one of our doctors will take a basic health history report. Once that is complete, they will come outside and conduct the nasal swab to collect the sample, take your temperature, and test your oxygen and heart rate. Once completed, you are free to go, and your results will be available within two to four days!

Where can I get a rapid COVID test?
