Regardless of the season, sports always pose a potential for injury. However, Winter sports are perhaps the most dangerous. Between gymnastics, skiing, and hockey, the list of possible injuries is virtually endless. While some of these potential injuries could prove severe, and in some cases, even life-threatening (which should be treated at the ER), our center is more than capable of treating a number of sports injuries. Instead of waiting hours and hours for treatment at the ER, while you’re likely writhing in pain, just visit our center and we’ll get you in-and-out the door in a far more timely manner.
Seeing as the winter can be a dangerous time of the year, even if sports aren’t involved, Emergency Rooms are typically overcrowded during this time. Since car accidents occur frequently during the winter, in addition people falling down (due to ice), ERs are invariably backed up by people requiring immediate, potentially life-saving care. Therefore, people who have suffered less-threatening injuries, such as sprains and cuts, will end up waiting hours before they’re accommodated.
Bruising and muscle sprains tend to be the most common injuries resulting from winter sports. These are treatable and in most cases, not season-ending. Our team here at AFC Urgent Care Methuen have the resources to treat these injuries both diligently and quickly, guaranteed to get our patients back on their feet (or skates!) as soon as possible. We understand the importance of sports for children at a young age, thus, we prioritize sports injuries to ensure our patients’ sports careers follow them into adulthood.
