How is an Urgent Care different from my regular provider’s office?

Since we are a walk in center, you can be treated at AFC Urgent Care Center without making an appointment if you have a busy schedule or don’t feel well enough to wait to see your Primary Care provider. While both care for common illnesses, an urgent care is a better choice for non life threatening injuries that require x-rays or sutures. You should visit your Primary Care provider if you have chronic health issues that require managed care, such as diabetes, high blood pressure or psychiatric disorders. At our Urgent Care center we work in conjunction with your Primary Care provider and will send your visit records to your provider so they can follow-up with you.

How long is the wait to see a provider in AFC Urgent Care Center in Narberth?

Patients are seen on a walk-in, first come, first served basis and are usually in and out within 1 Hour. Occasionally patients may experience longer than the typical wait time if multiple people walk-in at the same time. We make every effort to staff our clinics appropriately to keep wait times to a minimum.

How much do specific vaccines cost?

The cost of each vaccine is different. Please call for specific prices.

How much is a typical visit?

For insured patients,we collect your deductible and/or your co-pay at the time of service, and then bill your insurer for you. After your insurer sends an EOB (explanation of benefits) to us, AFC Urgent Care will bill you for any balance still due.

How much will the visit cost if I have no insurance?

We have a standard discount for all of our rates for patients without medical insurance. The total cost of your visit depends on the services you use at our walk-in urgent care clinic. Our urgent care center offers on-site lab testing, state of the art digital X-Rays and on-site prescription medication. The costs for these services are additional, but we will always explain the cost before proceeding with any procedure so you can decide to move forward or not.

I am going abroad, do you offer travel immunizations?

Yes, please about our Travel Medical Program.

If I have insurance, will I get a bill after my visit?

Our fees are fixed, but the amount that your insurance company covers depends on your specific plan. For insured patients,we collect your deductible and/or your co-pay at the time of service. After your insurer processes your claim, if there is a balance due, we will bill you for the remaining balance.

What do I need to bring when I come to AFC Urgent Care?

The patient needs to bring a photo ID and insurance card. If the patient is minor, we use the photo ID of the accompanying parent or guardian.

What is the difference between Urgent Care and Emergency Room?

Urgent care is for conditions that require prompt attention but do not pose an immediate, serious threat to your health or life. In general, if your medical issue is life threatening call 911 or go directly to a hospital emergency room. If not, an Urgent Care Center such as AFC Urgent Care is an excellent alternative. What Type of Medical Treatment do you Provide?

We specialize in fast and effective provider care, for most non-life threatening conditions due illness or injury, as well as preventive care, travel medicine and employers services. We bridge the gap between a primary care provider and the ER, providing extended hours, seven days a week, with CLIA certified labs, digital x-ray, splints & braces, vaccines, prescriptions & some non-narcotic medications. However, if you have a life-threatening condition or emergency, you should always call 911 and seek a hospital ER.

When should I not visit an Urgent Care practice?

If you are experiencing life threatening conditions such as significant chest pain, shortness of breath, rectal bleeding, or passing out (syncope), extremely high fevers in the young or the elderly, these types of issues are best treated in an Emergency Room at your local hospital. Although our offices are staffed by board certified provider, life threatening emergencies often require advanced levels of care available only at a hospital.

Where are you located and how do I get to your center?

We are located in Narberth PA on Montgomery Ave right next to the PNC Bank. We have a parking lot next to our building. SEPTA’s 44 bus has stops near our location.

Where can I get DOT/CDL Medical Card?

Our provider are eligible to do DOT Physical Exams and issue the required Medical Card for commercial drivers license in Pennsylvania and other states. No appointments needed.
