Coronavirus Antibody Testing in New Britain, CT

AFC Urgent Care New Britain now offers COVID-19 antibody testing for asymptomatic patients via a blood draw. The test is able to detect antibodies in the sample which signifies a past infection with coronavirus. Appointments are not required, but please wear a mask when visiting our center for antibody testing. You will be able to get your results between 4-7 business days after testing, depending on lab capacity or any unforeseen circumstances.

***Disclaimer: Certain Insurers May Require A Co-Payment.

Can I Be Tested For Coronavirus Antibodies?

If you have been asymptomatic for at least two weeks, you are eligible to be tested for coronavirus antibodies. Symptoms include dry cough, fever, body aches and congestion.

Differences Between Antibody Testing And Diagnostic Testing

Diagnostic testing is performed with a nasal swab, which is able to detect the active COVID-19 virus. This test is typically performed on symptomatic patients. Antibody testing is performed through a blood draw and detects past infection.

What Do My Results Mean?

A Positive Antibody Test indicates exposure to coronavirus and development of an immune response. Currently, research is being performed to determine whether the presence of antibodies means that a patient has an immunity or protection against further infection. For the latest updates on how antibodies are being tested, visit the CDC website.

Negative Results indicate no exposure to COVID-19. However, you may have been infected too recently for antibodies to develop.

You must continue to comply by local health and safety guidelines. For the most up-to-date information on practices followed in Connecticut, please visit the state department website.

AFC Urgent Care FAQs

  • Why does AFC provide two different COVID tests?

We offer a rapid test because they provide highly reliable results on the spot; however, they do produce more false negatives than the RT-PCR COVID-19 Test. Doing both tests is our way of ensuring that you get the most accurate results possible without having to put your life on hold.

  • How long does it take to get a COVID test?

We're able to get many patients in and out in a matter of minutes, but the length of time you'll spend in our clinic will depend on wait times that day.

  • How much does it cost to get a COVID test?

That will ultimately depend on your insurance coverage. Presently, many people with insurance are able to get tested at no charge. If you’re uninsured, AFC’s cash pay prices are highly competitive – contact us for the details.
