Coronavirus Antibody Testing in North Bergen, NJ

Asymptomatic patients are eligible to visit AFC Urgent Care North Bergen for COVID-19 antibody testing. Antibody testing is performed via a blood draw and detects past infection with coronavirus. As it is a blood draw, you will need to come to our urgent care center for testing. Please wear a mask when you visit.

Am I Eligible For Coronavirus Antibody Testing?

Patients over the age of 15 who have been asymptomatic for at least 14 days are eligible for antibody testing. Symptoms include a dry cough, body aches, congestion and fever.

What Is The Difference Between Antibody Testing And Diagnostic Testing?

Diagnostic testing can only detect the active COVID-19 virus and is performed via a swab of the lower nasal cavity. The test is painless. Antibody testing is performed via a blood draw and can only detect antibodies from past infections, not the active virus itself. Antibody testing can only be performed on asymptomatic patients.

What Do My Results Tell Me?

A Positive Antibody Test indicates exposure to coronavirus, most likely COVID-19. You have likely had minimal contact with other forms of coronavirus during this time. Positive results indicate that your body has formed antibodies against coronavirus. It is still unknown whether or not the presence of antibodies indicates protection against further infection against COVID-19.

Negative Antibody Tests indicate no exposure to coronavirus, but you may have been exposed too recently to develop antibodies or an immune response.

Regardless of your results, it is critical to continue following local health and safety guidelines, including social distancing, covering your face in public and frequently washing your hands. For the most up-to-date information on how antibody tests are being interpreted, please visit the CDC website.

AFC Urgent Care FAQs

  • Why does AFC provide two different COVID tests?

We offer a rapid test because they provide highly reliable results on the spot; however, they do produce more false negatives than the RT-PCR COVID-19 Test. Doing both tests is our way of ensuring that you get the most accurate results possible without having to put your life on hold.

  • How long does it take to get a COVID test?

We're able to get many patients in and out in a matter of minutes, but the length of time you'll spend in our clinic will depend on wait times that day.

  • How much does it cost to get a COVID test?

That will ultimately depend on your insurance coverage. Presently, many people with insurance are able to get tested at no charge. If you’re uninsured, AFC’s cash pay prices are highly competitive – contact us for the details.
