While it certainly is impossible to 100% guarantee that you won’t get sick during the season, taking good care of yourself remains one of the most reliable ways to stay healthy. Getting rundown, experiencing high levels of stress or not getting the sleep you need can take a toll on your immune system and cause you to become sick.
Prioritizing washing your hands often with warm, soapy water and avoid touching your face as much as possible. Consider limiting the amount of time spent in large groups, and always keep your distance from sick individuals. Eat a healthy diet, stay hydrated and try to get between seven and nine hours of sleep every night. These simple tasks can do wonders for your overall health and can help you fend off illness more efficiently.

What About Foodborne Illnesses?

Always prepare meat to its recommended temperature, and serve your food as soon as it is done. Store leftovers right away and clear the table of any perishable food quickly. A good rule of thumb is to toss any food that has been sitting out for two hours or more. If bacteria has started to grow, it could cause your entire party to get sick in a short amount of time.
