Get your flu shot
Yes we know, this one seems obvious, but studies show that at least 60% of Americans do not get their flu shot every year! The Flu come back every year but is not the same as the year before. It is a common misunderstanding that the flu shot is like a vaccination. A vaccination usually only has to be taken once or twice in your life to be protected from the same virus over & over. The flu has many different strands, so in a year the flu will come back in a different strand & you will not be protected from it anymore.
Keep practicing flu prevention methods
Even if you get the flu shot this does not guarantee immunity from the flu. Flu shots are not 100% effective. Common flu prevention practices should still be used. This practices should include:
- Sneezing into elbow
- constantly washing hands
- not shaking hands with someone who looks infected
- carrying around hand sanitizer
- avoid using public hand railing
