COVID-19 Diagnostic Testing
COVID-19 has been in the news for the last several months due to its quick spread across the globe: cases have been reported in all 50 states, with over 140,000 in New Jersey alone. The virus was initially detected at the end of 2019 and a vaccination has yet to be determined. AFC Urgent Care Paramus is performing COVID-19 diagnostic testing on patients after a pre screening over telemedicine.
What are the symptoms of COVID-19?
COVID-19 patients may or may not exhibit symptoms. Many positive cases have seen the patient be asymptomatic. Symptoms appear between two and fourteen days after exposure to the COVID-19 virus, which can spread through direct contact as well as community spread. Symptoms include:
Cough
Fever
Headache and full body aches
Chest congestion and shortness of breath
Lost of smell and/or taste
How does diagnostic testing work?
During your telemedicine screening with our physician, you will be able to go over your symptoms so the physician can determine if you meet the center’s criteria for testing. When you come to the center for testing, please make sure your face is covered by a mask or protective covering and call the front desk from your car. We will be able to direct you to the correct entrance. Testing is performed by taking a swab of the lower nasal cavity, which is painless. Results will be available within a few days.
COVID-19 Diagnostic Testing in Paramus, NJ
If you are exhibiting symptoms of COVID-19, schedule a telemedicine visit with AFC Urgent Care Paramus to determine if you meet the qualifications for testing. We are accepting telemedicine visits seven days a week. For questions about telemedicine or COVID-19 testing, please call (201) 262-2010.
We offer a rapid test because they provide highly reliable results on the spot; however, they do produce more false negatives than the RT-PCR COVID-19 Test. Doing both tests is our way of ensuring that you get the most accurate results possible without having to put your life on hold.
We're able to get many patients in and out in a matter of minutes, but the length of time you'll spend in our clinic will depend on wait times that day.
That will ultimately depend on your insurance coverage. Presently, many people with insurance are able to get tested at no charge. If you’re uninsured, AFC’s cash pay prices are highly competitive – contact us for the details.
