Job Title : Staff Provider

Job Description:

AFC Urgent Care is looking for Providers who enjoy the practice of medicine and the chance to focus exclusively on patient care.

If you are looking for the type of freedom and autonomy of practicing medicine in your own office, but without the heavy financial and administrative burden normally associated with establishing and maintaining your own practice, AFC Urgent Care may be right for you.

Our state-of-the-art centers offer x-ray, CLIA approved labs and prescription drugs on-site with a highly-trained and friendly medical staff. Providers have an extensive patient base ranging from pediatrics to geriatrics with an interesting diversity of patient issues.

With over 200 centers open nationwide offering its providers a comfortable work / life balance with no on-call, flexible full and part time shift options, paid malpractice insurance and competitive compensation, our team of providers continues to grow.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Providing the highest quality patient care
  • Managing all patient care at the center
  • Supervising all medical staff
  • Ordering and reading all diagnostic x-rays and labs
  • Suturing lacerations, draining abscesses and starting IVs
  • Ensuring medical staff follows proper protocols and conducts patient call backs
  • Ensuring prescription medication and CLIA approved laboratory compliance
  • Ensuring center has all the necessary urgent care equipment, supplies and medications
  • Ensuring accuracy of International Classification of Diseases (ICD) Rev 9/10 codes
  • Participating in the hiring and training of medical staff
  • Compiling quality data and addressing with medical staff as needed
  • Ensuring all charts and medical records are accurately completed in a timely manner
  • Ensuring patients are discharged with detailed instructions
  • Ensuring biological specimens are collected and processed in the lab
  • Adhering to all center policies and procedures

Qualifications:

  • M.D. (Doctor of Medicine) degree, D.O. (Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine) degree, Physician Assistant diploma and certification, or Nurse Practitioner diploma and certification.
  • For physicians, Board certified/eligible by the American Board of Family Medicine or Emergency Medicine
  • At least three years of clinical experience in family medicine or emergency medicine
  • Active and current medical license in the state of Pennsylvania
  • Active and current Federal DEA number
  • Active and current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Clinical ability to suture lacerations, drain abscesses, read x-rays and start IVs
  • Passionate about the practice of medicine
  • Prior urgent care or emergency room experience a plus
  • Active and current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification a plus
  • Active and current Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification a plus
  • Active and current DOT certification as Medical Examiner a plus
  • Familiar with occupational medicine and travel medicine
  • Comfort and experience treating patients age 6 months and older from pediatrics to geriatrics
  • Effective and compassionate communicator with staff, patients and family
  • Willingness to mentor clinical staff

Job Title : Certified Medical Assistant

Job Description:

Certified Medical Assistants are primarily responsible for assisting our board-certified providers with the provision of patient medical care. Our Certified Medical Assistants report to the staff provider on-duty for all clinical matters and the center administrator for all non-clinical matters.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Assisting staff provider on duty with patient care as requested
  • Assisting with front-office administrative duties (e.g., greeting and registering patients, copying insurance cards, verifying co-pays, etc.)
  • Maintaining efficient and organized patient flow
  • Performing patient triage by taking vital signs of newly registered patients
  • Escorting patients to exam rooms that are setup based on patient's initial complaint
  • Performing point of care diagnostic tests
  • Documenting relevant patient data into electronic medical records
  • Completing all charts and medical records accurately and in a timely manner
  • Collecting biological specimens and processing them in the laboratory
  • Performing pharmacy and CLIA approved lab procedures, maintenance and controls
  • Tracking and re-stocking all necessary urgent care supplies and medications
  • Discharging patients with detailed instructions
  • Following proper protocols and conducting patient call-backs
  • Ensuring exam rooms are cleaned following each patient visit
  • Ensuring cleanliness of the center at all times
  • Adhering to all center policies and procedures.
  • Medical Assistant Certification or Associate Degree
  • At least (180) hours of clinical experience in medical practice setting
  • Phlebotomy training
  • Understanding of the concepts of universal precautions, HIPAA, and OSHA
  • Prior urgent care or emergency room experience a plus
  • Active and current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Familiar with occupational medicine and travel medicine a plus
  • Effective and compassionate communicator with co-workers, patients and family

Job Title : Medical Receptionist

Job Description:

Medical Receptionists are primarily responsible for greeting and registering patients and handle front office administrative tasks. Our Medical Receptionists report to the Staff Provider on-duty for all clinical matters and the Office Manager for all non-clinical matters.

Primary Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Greeting patients in a professional, warm, friendly and calm manner
  • Answering incoming calls in a professional manner and taking clear messages, as needed
  • Registering patients into the electronic medical records accurately and in a timely manner
  • Scanning patient registration forms, IDs, insurance cards, etc.
  • Verifying patient insurances, copays and deductibles online using NaviNet
  • Collecting cash, credit/debit card payments and ensuring charges are complete and accurate
  • Maintaining efficient and organized patient flow
  • Performing all patient discharge tasks including collecting all remaining payments, printing discharge instructions, scanning scripts/labs/x-rays and drafting doctor notes for signature
  • Coordinating faxes and referrals with other physicians and employers
  • Assisting with durable medical equipment paperwork
  • Ensure cleanliness of waiting room, administration area and break room
  • Tracking, ordering and re-stocking all necessary office supplies
  • Ensuring cleanliness of the center at all times
  • Adhering to all center policies and procedures.

Qualifications:

  • Experience in a medical office setting a plus
  • Medical Secretary certification or Associate Degree a plus
  • Proficient in the use of computer software

Job Description:

RTs are primarily responsible for performing all diagnostic x-rays and assisting with the provision of patient medical care. Our Xray Technician reports to the Staff Physician on-duty for all clinical matters and the Office Manager for all non-clinical matters.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Assisting staff physician on duty with patient care as requested
  • Performing all diagnostic x-rays
  • Ensuring that the x-ray equipment is operationally maintained
  • Assisting with front-office administrative duties (e.g., greeting and registering patients, copying insurance cards, verifying co-pays, etc.)
  • Maintaining efficient and organized patient flow
  • Performing patient triage, as needed, by taking vital signs of newly registered patients
  • Documenting relevant patient data into electronic medical records

  • Understanding of the concepts of universal precautions, HIPAA, and OSHA
  • Prior urgent care or emergency room experience a plus
  • Active and current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Active and current CPR / AED certification
