Point Loma COVID-19 Testing at AFC Urgent Care

Why Choose AFC for COVID-19 Testing

COVID testing is an important service whether you’re vaccinated or not. Many people remain vulnerable to COVID-19, and if you’re feeling sick, you could be putting those around you at risk. AFC offers COVID testing right on-site, giving you quick results to let you know whether or not you have COVID-19. Furthermore, we also test for Flu A/B and strep, illnesses that produce similar symptoms, so even if you don't have COVID, we can get you the proper treatment.

The Process of Getting a COVID Test

By calling AFC Urgent Care Point Loma, we will discuss available times for COVID-19 testing. AFC Point Loma does not currently accept online scheduling for COVID-19 testing, or accept walk-ins for COVID-19 testing at this time due to high demand.

AFC Point Loma currently has two testing options. COVID-19 (RT) PCR NAAT Rapid testing with results in 15 minutes that is available for most insurance plans, as well as a COVID-19 (RT) PCR NAAT testing that gets sent out to the lab for testing with results in 2-3 days.

If you do test positive for COVID-19, our providers will discuss a care plan for you as well as your quarantine requirements.

For Travel Testing, our COVID-19 Rapid 15 Minute Testing is approved for domestic and international travel and we will provide paperwork of your results at the time of your visit.

AFC Urgent Care FAQs

  • Why does AFC provide two different COVID tests?

We offer a rapid test because they provide highly reliable results on the spot; however, they do produce more false negatives than the RT-PCR COVID-19 Test. Doing both tests is our way of ensuring that you get the most accurate results possible without having to put your life on hold.

  • How long does it take to get a COVID test?

We're able to get many patients in and out in a matter of minutes, but the length of time you'll spend in our clinic will depend on wait times that day.

  • How much does it cost to get a COVID test?

That will ultimately depend on your insurance coverage. Presently, many people with insurance are able to get tested at no charge. If you’re uninsured, AFC’s cash pay prices are highly competitive – contact us for the details.
