AFC of Portland will be hosting a booth in the Race Village during the Komen Race for the Cure at Portland’s Waterfront Park on Sunday, September 17th, and invites all race participants, friends and family to stop by and say hello. In an effort to promote wellness exams that include screenings for various cancers, AFC will be signing up people for a complete wellness exam at any one of our Portland area clinics. Best of all, any individuals that schedule and complete an exam will receive a $20 Starbucks gift card.

As a race that regularly draws crowds of over 40,000 people, AFC believes that this event, and the values of the Susan G. Komen Foundation, creates the perfect environment for promoting early detection and screenings for illnesses and diseases that are available at AFC clinics.

“Partnering with businesses and organizations that encourage people to live a healthy lifestyle is always something we are willing to do,” says Dan Reese of AFC Portland. “Like the Komen Foundation, AFC works to provide education and screenings for cancer within our community. So we felt like this was a great opportunity to get people that might have been putting it off, signed up for a wellness visit.”

As a group of people working in healthcare that have personally been affected by breast cancer, the team at AFC is looking forward to speaking with race goers about cancer awareness in support of the Komen Foundation. Whether it’s educating participant’s friends and family or supporting survivors, having a presence at the race is something AFC doctors and staff are looking forward to.
