An x-ray is a common imaging test that has been used for decades and is one of the safest medical procedures available. It is a quick, painless test that produces images of the body’s internal structures.
There is no special preparation needed for a regular diagnostic x-ray. An x-ray technician will give instructions on how you should position your body for the x-ray. The machine produces a safe level of radiation that passes through your body and records an image on a specialized plate.
At American Family Care, many of our clinics have been outfitted with digital x-ray services for a more comprehensive healthcare experience. We transitioned to a state-of-the-art, digital x-ray system to improve the quality of images, process results faster, and provide more accurate diagnostics.
Our available x-ray services vary by location. Most of our locations are capable of performing x-rays for:
- Upper Extremities: fingers, hand, wrist, forearm, elbow, humerus, radius
- Lower Extremities: toes, foot, ankle, leg, knee, tibia, femur
- Chest / Lungs
- Spine: Cervical, Thoracic, Lumbar
- Skull: Head, Nose
- Abdominal
- Pelvis / Hips
X-rays can help detect disease or injury at early stages so the ailment can be treated appropriately with a more direct treatment plan. Thanks to this technology, x-ray testing often saves lives.
