Urgent care centers are helping to reduce the demand for healthcare services on hospitals, allowing them more time to focus on more serious medical issues quicker than they have been able to in the past. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), many of the 129.8 million people who visit the emergency room each year could have been seen in an urgent care facility.
In addition to offering services for less serious conditions at a faster, more efficient rate than hospitals, urgent care costs much less than a hospital visit, saving patients money. The cost for urgent care is often similar to the price an individual would pay for a doctor’s visit, unlike the emergency room where patrons could pay more than three times that rate.
