AFC Urgent Care & Walk-In Clinic in Roanoke, VA offers DOT physical exams needed for your Commercial Driver’s License application.
The Department of Transportation requires all truck drivers and other commercial vehicle operators to have regular medical examinations and physicals, so you can obtain a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL). AFC Urgent Care Roanoke’s staff is certified to perform DOT physicals, including federal and forensic drug testing. AFC Urgent Care is committed to getting your drivers on the road as quickly and safely as possible. The DOT exam will require:
- Review of Medical History
- Urinalysis
- Measurements of height, weight, heart rate and blood pressure
- Examination of Lung, Vision, and Hearing Function
The DOT wants to ensure that all commercial vehicle drivers are safe on the roads. There are a few medical conditions that will disqualify a driver from obtaining a CDL. The driver must have 20/40 correctable vision in each eye, cannot be diabetic requiring needle-injected insulin. The blood pressure must be meet established guidelines, also sleep apnea, poor vision or hearing may prevent the obtainment of a CDL. (see DOT website for additional information)
Due to new regulations, please bring the following items with you when you show up for your DOT exam:
- Medication list and dosing information
- Most recent CPAP report
- If you have a history of heart disease, bring a letter from your Cardiologist’ standpoint stating it’s OK to drive. You should also bring the most recent stress test report, and most recent cardiogram report.
