Diagnostic testing for COVID-19 is performed by taking a sample via a gentle swab of the lower nasal cavity. The process takes only a few moments and is pain-free to the patient. The swab is then taken to our lab where it is processed and analyzed, with results returned to the patient in 1-3 days depending on current capacity of the lab and the number of tests ordered that day.
The staff members administering the test will be in full PPE, including gowns, gloves, face shields and masks for both yours and their protection. Please wear a mask when visiting our center for COVID-19 diagnostic testing.
AFC Urgent Care Short Hills is now offering Rapid COVID-19 diagnostic swab testing to provide patients who have recently exhibited symptoms of the novel coronavirus and are in need of an accurate diagnosis.
Our urgent care center is offering the rapid antigen test takes moments to perform and detects the active virus in mere minutes. Swab testing is the most effective way to get an accurate diagnosis.
Additionally, our rapid tests are being used to help coordinate travel testing and determine if a patient is eligible to travel safely, pending their destination’s COVID safety requirements.
AFC Urgent Care Short Hills performs COVID-19 testing by appointment seven days a week. Please call us to begin if you have any questions:
We offer a rapid test because they provide highly reliable results on the spot; however, they do produce more false negatives than the RT-PCR COVID-19 Test. Doing both tests is our way of ensuring that you get the most accurate results possible without having to put your life on hold.
We're able to get many patients in and out in a matter of minutes, but the length of time you'll spend in our clinic will depend on wait times that day.
That will ultimately depend on your insurance coverage. Presently, many people with insurance are able to get tested at no charge. If you’re uninsured, AFC’s cash pay prices are highly competitive – contact us for the details.
