With the coronavirus pandemic at its peak in the United States, all states are making necessary changes and updates to their traveling rules and regulations. Therefore, if you were planning to spend your vacation in another state, you must be aware of the updated rules and regulations.
In some US states, you won’t find any such restrictions when it comes to travel. However, they have set some mandatory requirements related to traveling during COVID-19.
We understand how daunting it can be to figure out the quarantine requirements of each state. In a nutshell, all visitors are required to quarantine for at least 14 days. In addition to this, states ask for a medical certificate stating the traveler has tested negative for COVID-19. Moreover, they require that the traveler has taken it within 72 hours of the arrival unless otherwise stated.
It is pertinent to mention that these requirements are subject to change, so make it a point to go through each state’s official website for all the details.
Here is a list of destinations that require self-isolation or quarantine.
Alaska
Regardless of whether the visitor is resident or non-resident, they must fill out a traveler declaration form upon arrival. This will list all the places the visitor has traveled in the last two weeks through Alaska Travel Portal.
The visitors need to practice social distancing for five days and stay out of closed public spots, such as cafes and restaurants.
Hawaii
Prior to their arrival in Hawaii, all the visitors (residents and non-residents) must register online and fill out a compulsory Safe Travel form. They will receive a QR code that authorities at the Hawaiian airport will screen. Travel authorities will check travelers’ temperatures on the premises and ask them to quarantine for two weeks depending upon their trip duration.
Idaho
For people arriving in Idaho, the requirements are pretty light. Travel authorities ask visitors to self-isolate for about two weeks if they are coming from an area with a higher rate of COVID-19 cases. Apart from this, the state doesn’t ask visitors to quarantine.
Maryland
In Maryland, travel authorities ask visitors arriving from high-risk areas to submit COVID-19 test results. They require visitors to quarantine for two weeks or until the test results come negative.
