Immigration Physicals At AFC Urgent Care In Suffolk, VA

August 24, 2023

If you are applying for a green card or permanent residence in the United States, an immigration physical is a necessary step in the immigration process. This examination is performed to make sure that you are medically and physically in good health when you arrive in your new country, and it also prevents diseases from entering the U.S.

Who Performs The Immigration Physical?

These exams can only be performed by a designated civil surgeon, or a doctor who has received certification by USCIS, or The United States Citizenship and Immigration Services. At AFC Urgent Care in Suffolk, VA, we are pleased that Dr. Clarke is a civil surgeon and is able to provide immigration exams to our patients. Dr. Clarke is our onsite, board certified physician whose goal is to provide care for anyone who needs it in the Suffolk community.

What Does An Immigration Physical Involve?

During the physical exam, Dr. Clarke will look for any health conditions that may be affecting you. He will also do a medical exam, where he will ask you about both your medical history and your family history. Additionally, you should be prepared to bring in your vaccination records. Don’t worry if you do not have access to your vaccination records, as we can perform a blood test to verify your immunization status. Before your appointment, we recommend calling ahead to make sure the following vaccines and blood tests will be available for you to receive:

  • Syphilis blood test
  • Gonorrhea urine test
  • Flu vaccine
  • Diphtheria vaccine
  • Pertussis vaccine
  • Mumps vaccine
  • Rubella vaccine
  • Meningococcal vaccine
  • Pneumococcal vaccine
  • Measles vaccine
  • Tetanus vaccine
  • Polio vaccine
  • Rotavirus vaccine
  • Hepatitis A and Hepatitis B vaccines
  • Varicella vaccine

What To Bring To Your Immigration Physical

We want your appointment to go as smoothly as possible. That is why we ask that you please bring the following:

  • Pre-completed I-693 Form (Report of Medical Examination and Vaccination Record)
  • Valid driver’s license or passport
  • Vaccination or immunization records

At the end of your exam, Dr. Clarke will fill out the rest of the 1-693 form and place it in a sealed envelope for you to send to USCIS. We will also provide you with a copy of the form for your records. Please note: USCIS will not accept the envelope if it has been opened in any way.
