Individuals and families applying for a green card, permanent residency or citizenship in the United States are required to undergo an immigration physical exam performed by a USCIS Civil Surgeon as part of the application process. Patients in Thornton, Littleton and the surrounding areas are able to visit AFC Urgent Care Thornton by appointment seven days a week for immigration physicals.
Process of an immigration physical
The immigration physical is designed to ensure that you meet guidelines put in place by the Center for Disease Control, Department of Homeland Security and US Citizen and Immigration Services. The physical is a mandatory part of your application and will include:
- Physical exam
- Review of medical history
- Review of vaccination history
- RPR (Syphilis) test for all patients over the age of 15, younger if a potential risk is discovered
- GC (Gonorrhea) test for all patients over the age of 15, younger if a potential risk is discovered
- Flu shots between October and early April
- Tuberculosis blood test
Documents Needed at Your Immigration Physical
The following documents need to be brought to your immigration physical for verification:
- Your current government-issued ID, including a passport, driver’s licence, state ID, green card or military ID
- A copy of your medical records including your medical history, previous x-rays and any records from previous tuberculosis treatment
- Records from previous mental health treatment and vaccinations- Vaccinations must be translated into English
