Frequently Asked Questions About COVID-19 Diagnostic & Antibody Testing

What Types Of Covid-19 Testing Are Performed At AFC Urgent Care Torresdale?

AFC Urgent Care Torresdale offers both nasal swab testing and COVID-19 antibody testing seven days.

Who Should Be Tested?

Individuals who have exhibited symptoms of COVID-19 in the last fourteen days should be tested for the active virus by taking the swab test. Patients who have previously shown symptoms of COVID-19 in recent months or have not shown symptoms at all should take the antibody test to detect past infection.

When Should I Get Tested?

Depending on the test ordered, you will need to be different criteria to be tested.

Diagnostic NAA testing can be performed on patients who are currently showing symptoms of the virus. Swab testing can only detect the active virus.

Antibody testing can be performed on patients who have been asymptomatic for at least fourteen days, or have had at least fourteen days passed since their previous positive swab test.

What’s The Difference Between The Tests?

There are distinct differences between the tests. NAA testing is performed by taking a gentle swab of the lower nasal cavity and can be completed in only a few moments. Results are available in 1-3 days. Antibody testing requires a blood draw and can be completed in five to ten minutes. Results can be processed in our on-site OR off-site lab, depending on the type of test performed.

Why Should I Get Tested?

Testing, even for those who have not exhibited symptoms of the virus, can help local and state governments maintain accurate numbers when it comes to people who have been exposed to or infected with the virus. Antibody testing, even when the patient has not exhibited symptoms of infection, can be used to detect a past infection with COVID-19 by detecting the presence of antibodies, an immune response to the virus.

How Can I Get Tested?

You may get tested for COVID-19 with or without first having a visit with one of our healthcare providers. Walk in anytime during regular business hours or save your spot online prior to coming into our clinic. Our healthcare providers will be able to go over your symptoms and determine which test will best fit your needs.

With state-of-the-art centers and a professional medical team, AFC provides on-site X-rays, labs, procedures, and more!

  • What's the difference between AFC Urgent Care and emergency room services?

Urgent care is for medical conditions that require prompt attention but do not pose an immediate threat to your health or life.
