Bee Stings and Insect Bites

May 6, 2013

"

As we enter the warmer months and engage in more outdoor activities, insect bites and stings of various sorts will become more prevalent. Most reactions are localized, and consist of redness, swelling, pain, and/or itching at the site. If there is a stinger present it should be removed, if possible, in an urgent care setting.
If you are stung several times or experience an allergic reaction, such as difficulty breathing, vomiting, hives over much of the body, or swelling of the lips, tongue, or throat, you should seek mediate medical attention in an emergency setting.
It’s normal for a bite or sting to cause redness and swelling but occasionally, at the site of the original reaction, a bacterial infection can develop several days later. This should prompt an urgent medical visit as well.
If you require urgent care for a bee sting or insect bite, you can come right in to AFC Urgent Care Waltham every day from 8am to 8pm – no appointment or referral needed.
Register on-line before your visit and save some time.
