Flu Shots For Seniors

"

Adults age 65 years or older typically have weaker immune systems and, therefore, are more susceptible to the influenza virus (the flu). Most hospitalizations and deaths from the seasonal flu occur in people over the age of 65 who have underlying medical conditions. This is why it is important that all Senior Citizens get a flu shot as soon it is available in their area. In fact, in a recent study by the Center for Disease Control (CDC) and Vanderbilt University, experts found flu vaccination reduced the risk of flu-related hospitalization by nearly 77% in study participants age 50 and older during the 2011-12 flu season.
If you’re a Senior Citizen in need of your flu shot, you can walk into AFC Urgent Care Waltham 7 days a week from 8am to 8pm, no appointment needed. The flu shot is 100% covered by Medicare.
