Primary Care

AFC Urgent Care Waltham now provides primary care to all patients beginning at age 18

Whether for business, study, or vacation, our goal at AFC Urgent Care Waltham is to keep you safe and healthy while traveling abroad. Our physicians and medical staff are trained to provide comprehensive, destination-specific medical information, immunizations, medications and other health care needs to help prevent travel-related illness or disease.
When traveling abroad, it’s important to plan in advance. Some vaccinations need time to take effect while others require multiple doses, given weeks or months apart.

What does the travel medicine protocol look like?

To expedite your care, AFC Urgent Care Waltham has set up an on-line questionnaire for you to complete prior to your visit. Your physician will then customize an immunization program for you based on the information you provide.

We can help you assemble the medications necessary that will help protect you against malaria, food and water borne diarrhea illness, and motion sickness.

What is included with travel medicine?

Some areas of the world are not as developed in regard to modern medicine. This can cause disease to spread more easily, that are essentially nonexistent in the United States.

Our providers can recommend the best medications for you based on the program designed specifically for you. Some medications include:

  • Medicines for malaria, diarrhea, motion sickness, & altitude sickness
  • Required & recommended travel vaccines
    • Hepatitis A & B
    • Tetanus
    •  Rabies
  • Medical screenings

AFC Urgent Care FAQs

  • Why choose AFC for Urgent Care?

With state-of-the-art centers and a professional medical team, AFC provides on-site X-rays, labs, procedures, and more!

  • What's the difference between AFC Urgent Care and emergency room services?

Urgent care is for medical conditions that require prompt attention but do not pose an immediate threat to your health or life. Here is a simple rule of thumb: if your medical issues(s) are life threatening, call 911, or go directly to a hospital emergency room. If not, an urgent care center such as AFC is an excellent alternative.
