What To Expect in Waltham at AFC Urgent Care

AFC Urgent Care Waltham is located in the heart of Waltham, MA in the new Main Street Marketplace. We are less than a mile from Exit 26 on Route 95/128, with access from both Routes 20 and 117. We have ample parking, to include several reserved spaces designated for AFC Urgent Care patients only, and less than ten feet from our front door.

Upon entering our bright, clean, spacious reception area, you will be greeted by our staff and asked if you would like to see one of our providers. They will be happy to answer any questions you may have, and should you wish to be seen by one of our providers, will then ask you for a photo ID and a health insurance card for insurance verification purposes. You will then be required to fill out a single-page registration form if you haven’t previously done so via our online registration.

The reception staff will offer you coffee, tea or a bottle of water that you can enjoy while you wait, which on average, is less than ten minutes. Also available to our patients, are roller-mounted iPads for adults, an “iPad bar" with age-appropriate educational games and videos for kids, an assortment of magazines, free wifi, and chocolates that are appreciated by patients 1 year or older.

A member of our clinical team will greet you by first name in the lobby and guide you into an exam room to learn the reason for your visit and to capture any relevant health information including vital signs, health history and any medications that you are currently taking.

Immediately following this overview, you will be joined by one of our providers who will review your symptoms, provide a thorough examination, and determine if any further laboratory testing or digital x-rays are needed. Our providers strive to address all of your questions and concerns before leaving the examination room and ensure that each patient is comfortable with the diagnosis and the provider’s instructions.

A member of our clinical team will then return with the provider’s discharge instructions and any needed prescriptions. We routinely e-prescribe or e-fax your prescription to the pharmacy of your choosing so that the filled prescription is waiting for you immediately upon leaving our center.

To conclude your visit, our clinical team will again ask if you have any questions or concerns. Provided that you are and comfortable with the provider’s diagnosis and instruction, they will escort you back to the front door so that you can leave your friends at AFC Urgent Care Waltham and be well on your way to a speedy recovery!
